U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol by Aston.
    .54 caliber, 8 1/2-inch round, smoothbore barrel. Brass blade front sight. Swivel ramrod with button shaped head, the opposite end threaded. All brass mountings. All metal parts finished bright except blued trigger. Lockplate marked: US/H. ASTON. Behind hammer marked: MIDDTN / CONN. / 1850. Sideplate with inspector's initial K. Breech is proofmarked: US/JH/P. Inspector's marking left side of stock.

    Condition: Good to very good. Steel with a mostly smooth, dark gray age patina. Scattered nicks and some staining. Brass is bright showing signs of having been cleaned. Top of backstrap a possible replacement. Signs of repairs at ramrod swivel. Stock good to very good with crack near triggerguard and showing some shrinkage around the lock. Stock cartouche very faint. Small loss to nipple. Action functions.
