Description

    U.S. Model 1842 Martial Single-Shot Percussion Pistol by H. Aston & Co. dated 1851. .54 caliber, 8 1/2-inch barrel with faint "N" marking at breech. Case-hardened lock mechanism marked: U.S./H. Aston & Co./Middtn/Conn./1851. Varnished walnut stock with two inspector cartouches. Brass furniture. Swivel ramrod [see Flayderman 6A-040, page 333]. Approximately 6000 made.
    Condition: Good to very good. Metal showing a grey-brown age patina with scattered light pitting present near nipple and on ramrod swivel. Traces of silvered case-hardening present on lock. Wood with wear and minor bruises. Fine hairline crack on left side of stock at breech. Action good.
