Description

    U.S. Model 1836 Martial Flintlock Pistol by A. Waters.

    Unserialized, .54 caliber, 8 1/2-inch barrel. Standard configuration, the lock stamped A. WATERS / MILBURY, MS / 1837 along with "US / LF / P." at the breech and visible inspectors cartouche on left side of stock. This gun is pictured in the book Texas Iron, Guns of the Texas Rangers, by Moser on page 24.

    Condition: Barrel has aged to a mostly mottled gray patina mixing with dark coloring and minor pitting at the breech. The lock is smooth and dark with minor pitting at the pan and with a soft action. The remainder of the metal, backstrap and triggerguard is also dark with a mottled patina and pitting. The wood appears to have been colored at some point, a few mars, dents and bruising present along with a few stress cracks and repairs. Action needs tightening. Bore dark.
