Description

    US M1819 Flintlock Pistol. 15 1/2" overall with 10" .54 caliber smoothbore iron barrel marked "JDJ / P / US" at rear. Blade front sight, raised dished area at front of tang serving as rear sight. Lock marked "S. North / U (eagle) S / Midltn Conn.", forward of reinforced cock, and "1822" under sliding safety at tail of lock. Iron butt cap which extends to the elongated barrel tang, captive ramrod with swivels, walnut stock with inspector's cartouche in oval behind rear lock screw. Period 'condemned' mark struck above touch hole, metal with nice patina and some scattered stains. Hairline under lock plate date that continues underneath up to the lock bolt plate. Another short, closed crack parallel to the first, with a small replaced chip forward of the lock mortise, all minor. Nice original flintlock example of this regulation US issue martial pistol.
