Scarce Pair of Duval A Nantes c. 1765 Flintlock Pistols.
Unserialized, approximately .54 calibers, 6-inch octagonal and round barrel. One-piece walnut stocks with decorative silver inlay at wrist. Lock marked: DUVAL / A / NANTES. Gilt accented brass barrels and furniture. Panoply of arms engraved to top of barrels. Brass eagle head butts. Ramrods. Note: At the National Museum of the U.S. Navy (Washington Naval Yard museum), A similar French flintlock pistol with brass work and eagle's head pommel by Nante Duval is found and is attributed to the Marquis de Lafayette.

Condition: Fine. Overall showing normal handling wear and scattered patches of pitting. Scuffs, dings and bruising present to wood. Noticeable wood loss to base of one stock to right side at butt. Wood crack to one pistol on fore-end the length of the barrel. Fine verdigris to brass features. Action good.
