    Rare Colt Third Model Dragoon Percussion Revolver Inscribed to William Alford, 6th Texas Cavalry. Serial no. 19467, .44 caliber, 8-inch part round, part octagonal barrel with single-line New York address. Cylinder fully loaded with period balls [no caps].Brass triggerguard and gripstrap assembly, the butt with period inscription in script reading: Wm. Alford/6th Texas/Cav'y. One-piece walnut grips, the right side inlaid with a tiny silver diamond, a slightly larger heart and a five-pointed star [such talismans often associated with the Knights of the Golden Circle, to which many members of the Confederate cavalry belonged].Condition: Good, used condition which is very good for this model. Metal showing dark brown age patina and scattered light pitting. Loading lever with weak catch spring. Wedge screw a possible period replacement. Brass showing wear and minor age spotting. Grips with age wear, particularly to relief edges. Action good.
