Pair of Percussion Salon Target Pistols by Johann Mond, Augsburg. Comprising: 1) Numbered I, approximately .50 caliber, 10 3/8-inch half-round rifled barrel with cannon-type muzzle fixed with german silver blade front sight. Top of barrel flat with gold-inlay legend reading: IOH:MOND. Engraved rear tang and screw behind notched and grooved rear sight. Floral-engraved hammer and lock with gold maker's mark. Back plate fully engraved with pair of reclined facing lions. Triggerguard engraved with arrow and floral bouquet motif. Pineapple finial. Checkered and carved hardwood stock with engraved butt cap. 2) Identical to above numbered II and with different barrel legend reading: IN AUGSBURG. Condition: Both very good. Retaining approximately 20-25% original blue finish, the balance a mottled plum-brown patina thinning to gray. Scattered patches of fine pitting. Stocks good with numerous fine dents and scratches.
