Pair of French Flintlock Pistols by Jouin a Saumur, Maine-et-Loire c. 1820. .58 caliber, 5 1/4-inch blued compound barrels, with cannon muzzles, molded banding and faceted breeches. Dished rear sights. Vaulted banana-shaped flintlock mechanisms marked: Jouin a Saumur . Varnished walnut stocks with finely checkered grips and steel furniture. Swelled oval pommels with domed caps. Condition: Both are good to very good. Barrels retaining approximately 45-55% flaking finish mixed with grey patina. Locks and furniture with grey patina and slight traces of finish. Wood with 90% sharp and fine checkering, One example with small chip adjacent front of lock, the other with small hairline crack on near rear counter screw. Pommel caps possibly refinished. Actions good.
