    Description

    Pair of French Double-Barrel Flintlock Pistols by Penel Freres of St. Etienne. Comprising: 1) Unserialized, approximately .60 caliber, 7 1/2-inch half-round, half-octagonal polished steel barrels with gold bead front and integral rear sights. Extensively engraved on rib and breech. Right lock marked: Penel/Freres. Left lock with: St. Etienne. Deep relief engraved on ram rod pipe and triggerguard which is adorned with game scene. Figured hardwood relief-carved stock with chisel-engraved butt showing hunting panoplies and warrior figural. Ebony ram rod with ivory tip and worm. Dual triggers. 2) Identical to above but ram rod lacks worm. Condition: Fine as cleaned. Both with light age wear and patina. #1 with hairline crack left side of stock at fore-end. Small patch of surface rust to left lock. Crack to ivory on ram rod tip. #2 with short hairline to left side of stock. Both stocks with scattered fine dents. All actions function.
