    Silver Mounted

    Pair of Flintlock Pistols by Ketland.
    Comprising: 1) Approximately .60 caliber, 10-inch slightly swamped octagonal barrel with star design German-silver inlaid blade front sight. Breech with oval proofmarks containing P, TK and V. Lock is marked: KETLAND / & CO. with engraved border and hammer screw. Border-engraved German-silver back plate with traces of old monogram, now vacant. Both lock screws engraved, forward screw set in German-silver mount. Engraved silver trigger guard with acorn finial. Front gripstrap with 5 silver hallmarks. Engraved silver butt cap. Blank silver shield thumb escutcheon on grip with fine border engraving. English walnut stock with German silver thimbles and hickory ramrod. 2) Same as above but lacking engraving on hammer screw. Also one back lock screw has lost the engraving.

    Condition: Very good to fine. Barrel and lock with smooth, gray patina with scattered fine spotting and fine patches of pitting. Signs of having been lightly cleaned. German silver fittings showing light age wear and patina. Guard and butt retaining generous amounts of silver with only traces of light tarnish. Stock fine with minor losses at muzzle and right side at mid-barrel. Fine age patina and scattered fine nicks and dents. 2) Same as above but with dent to butt cap.
