    Ornate Silver and Gold-Inlaid Middle Eastern Flintlock Pistol. .48 caliber, 10 ¾-inch tapered two-stage barrel, the front portion profusely gold-inlaid at muzzle and top with floral motifs and rouletted bands. Multi-faceted gold-inlaid breech with touchmark on left facet. Gold-inlaid tang. Fine gold-inlaid flintlock mechanism with ship's prow pan, roller frizzen and scrolling cock. Walnut stock literally covered in fine scrolling silver wire inlay, interspersed with leafage and floral blossoms. Engraved silver fore-end cap. Ornate asymmetrical silver wrist escutcheon of floral scrolls around an arms panoply. Silver counterplate with ornate scalloped border, dusted gold background and panoply of arms centerpiece. Relief-sculpted silver triggerguard and pommel cap with arms panoply centerpieces and long languets on grip. Ramrod channel with silver thimbles and filled in with silver bar. Obviously made for an important Bey, Pasha or ethnic tribal leader. Condition:. Unique and fine as configured. Metal areas not inlaid showing brown-grey age patina and light pitting. Inlaid areas remain bright. Minor chips or voids to wood present at butt. No flint present. Action very good.
