Original Flintlock George II British Dragoon Pistol. Brass mounted flintlock pistol with 12" .60 caliber smoothbore round iron barrel bearing three proof marks. The gun is 19" overall. Banana shaped lock with a rounded surface with "IORDAN/1742" behind the hammer and a crown over "GR" forward of the hammer. The brass mounts include two ramrod pipes, a vacant wrist escutcheon, butt cap with side straps, plus a trigger guard and side plate similar form to those found on the long land pattern (First Model) Brown Bess musket. The walnut stock has swelling at the ramrod entry pipe which is appropriate for British arms of this period. The ramrod is probably a replacement. Iron parts of the pistol with smooth dark gray patina and just a few areas of minor salt and peppering. Approximately 6" of the forestock has been restored with a diagonal splice and a small piece is laid in above the lock. Again a very old expertly done repair which has accrued nice patina. Very scarce gun with a very pleasing look.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
