Matched Pair of French 19th Century Saw Handled Percussion Pistols by the Prestigious Arms Maker Le Page, Paris.
Unserialized, .54 caliber, 10 ½-inch octagonal Damascus barrels with brass blade front sights. A narrow channel on the top of each barrel extends to a small rear notched sight. Top of barrels identically marked with gilt inlay LE PAGE / A PARIS. Locks, side locks, and hammers with fine foliate scroll engraving. Trigger guard and butt cap with complimentary engraving. Finely figured walnut stocks with intricately checkered grips and figural shell fore end caps. The stocks feature an integral elongated extension grooved on the top edge to match up with the barrel channel and facilitate aiming.

Condition: Very good. Each pistol marked in old contemporary ink on the left side of the stock with a former owner's name "C. CLEMENS". Barrels with a smooth brown patina. Both examples with modest handling wear and one with a 2-inch crack near the wedge on the left side of the stock; the other with a ½-inch crack forward of the lock and some damage to the shell fore-end on the left side and small chip to the horn butt cap. Crisp actions. Bores with uniform light surface rust.
