Magnificent 19th Century Cased Set of German Percussion Target Pistols. 14 1/2" overall, 9" patent breech full octagonal, .50 caliber, micro groove rifled barrels, marked with silver inlay, "C. L. v. D. fecht in Berlin". Silver gilt blade front sights, decorative barrel engraving also done with silver inlay. Exquisitely engraved breech and barrel tangs which are marked, in silver 1 and 2 respectively. Adjustable rear sights. Flat lock plates, bearing the identical marking as the barrels. Absolutely exquisite and elaborate engraving on all of the iron mounts including hammer and screws, ramrod pipes, two piece side plates, trigger guards and butt plates. The lock aperture is surrounded by decorative silver wire inlay, along with silver inlay on the wrists, near perfect. Single set triggers. Finely figured mahogany stocks with exquisite checkering , the forend caps and lower butt caps apparently fabricated of gutta percha. The guns are housed in the original green wool felt lined, black leather covered, case with two small covered, partitioned, compartments and brass bail handle on the lid. The case contains the following accessories: mainspring vise; wooden combination hammer/ramrod; brass powder measure; nipple pick; ivory handled key for adjusting rear sights; wood handled screw driver, felt covered bore cleaner; wooden rod with iron worm on tip; old cloth patches and 23 lead balls. Set in really excellent overall condition showing just the slightest wear. Iron furniture with smooth moderate patina and a few very minor dents in the wood. A few tiny chips on the gutta percha butts, really negligible. The case shows considerable wear and use with numerous scuffs, some cracks in the leather . Interior of the case also with a few tears and minor losses. Really a magnificent set of cased German pistols.
