Description

Late 18th Century British Flintlock Holster Pistol. 14 1/4" overall, 9" octagonal .58 caliber smoothbore octagonal iron barrel, bearing two proofs and marked "London", with silver blade front sight on 'spider' base. Copper toned mounts include trigger guard, with finely engraved pineapple finial, ramrod pipes, lock screw washers and unengraved shield shaped wrist escutcheon. Flat lock plate with reinforced pan, roller frizzen and marked "Ketland / & Co.". Walnut stock with flat sided bag shaped grip. Original ramrod with horn tip. Excellent overall condition. Barrel with nice patina and some minor staining. The hammer is a but darker than the lockplate but appears to be correct and original. Wood with a few very old abrasions on the forestock and hairline cracks with no loss just forward of front lock screw and on the right forend, both very minor. Fine quality and somewhat unusual form British flintlock holster pistol.
