Large Frame Continental Style Original Flintlock Military Holster Pistol. Gun appears to be pre 1750. with iron to octagon .62 caliber smoothbore barrel. The barrel now measures 7 1/8" and the gun is 13 3/4" overall, although we believe it was somewhat longer when originally made. Banana shaped iron lock with an unsupported pan, all mounts are of iron including large butt cap with straps. The walnut stock has raised areas around the lock, side plate and barrel tang, but the carving is somewhat primitive. The gun shows extensive wear with deep dark patina and some old rust on the metal as well as considerable wear on the wood. The ramrod, top jaw and screw are obvious but correctly proportioned replacements, else the gun is completely untouched, 'in the black'.
