    Description

Iron Mounted Patent Breech Late 18th Century British Original Flintlock Holster Pistol. 10" octagonal .50 caliber smoothbore iron barrel bearing no proof marks but the maker's name "WOGDON" and "LONDON" both inlaid on the top of the barrel. Touch hole with gold bushing but unquestionably original flintlock. Two barrel keys secure the walnut stock, on which the sides of the grips are flattened. The lock also has the maker's name, "Wogdon", along with sliding safety and reinforced pan. The iron trigger guard has an acorn finial with iron washers on the lock screws. Below and behind the rear lock screw is an inlaid silver escutcheon engraved with the script initials "RM". Wooden ramrod is old but not original. The guns shows wear and use overall, with some areas of salt and peppering on the iron parts with overall dark patina. Wood just shows some minor dings and dents from normal use and the lock mechanism is 'sticky'. The gun is 15" overall.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
