Iron Mounted British Flintlock Holster Pistol C. 1725. 15 3/4" overall with .58 caliber smoothbore, stepped, iron, round barrel, bearing three proof marks. Low profile front sight, rounded 'banana' lock with maker's name "Robt Harvey" engraved in small letters at the bottom, hammer with flat surface. Iron mounts include trigger guard, ribbed ramrod pipes, open work side plate, elaborate unengraved wrist escutcheon and butt cap, with small applied mask and ascending straps. Noteworthy swell at ramrod entry pipe, with raised wood panels around lock, side plate, trigger guard, entry pipe and barrel tang. Ramrod with ivory cap. Shows honest wear and use but very nice, with just some scattered dents in the wood, most notably at the wrist. Metal has been nicely hand cleaned and we believe both the ramrod and hammer are old replacements. Very impressive British flintlock holster pistol from the first quarter of the 18th century.
