Iron Frame 6 shot .36 Caliber Single Action Belgian Revolver C. 1860. 6 1/4" octagonal barrel with maker's name over "BREVETTE" on the right side in front of the cylinder. Initially there were front and rear sights but they appear to have been neatly removed although the dovetails remain. The barrel, frame and cylinder bear the serial number 805, with Belgian proof "E / LG" in an oval on the cylinder. Light border engraving on both sides of the frame, along with border engraving on the front and back of the cylinder. A hinged device hanging under the barrel has a button release, and when activated allows the user to rotate the device backwards engaging an internal release that permits easy removal of the barrel assembly. Most unusual. Two empty screw holes on the right side of the barrel suggest there was a loading lever mounted at that point. Smooth dark patina overall, exhibiting some honest wear and use. The tang screw and trigger screw appear to be replacements and the mechanism is somewhat 'sticky'.
