    French Model 1763/1766 Cavalry Single-Shot Flintlock Pistol by Libreville. .72 caliber, 9-inch barrel, arsenal cut from 12-inched and marked faintly at breech: T?. Double strap steel band and steel ramrod. Upper tang inscribed: "M 1763". Standard lock marked: "Mde/Libreville". Bird's head butt. Varnished walnut stock with steel furniture. Counterplate marked: 4. Stock with large S carved behind counterplate. Screws marred. Varnished walnut stock [see Battle Weapons of the American Revolution by Neumann, page 253]. Fair to good condition with metal mechanically cleaned and showing scattered pitting and surface rust from poor storage. Wood showing linear crack on right side, heavy wear and surface marks overall.
