Flintlock Pistol by W.G. Chance of London Approximately .65 caliber, 12 13/16-inch half round, half octagonal barrel with wedding ring band. Brass blade front sight. Top of barrel flat marked LONDON and with Liege proof. Upper tang with small floral engraving and fine cross-hatching. Lock marked: W&G CHANCE and with floral engraving behind the hammer. Brass backplate, triggerguard and butt with floral and panoply of arms motifs. Hardwood stock with brass furniture including vacant thumb escutcheon. Retained with four small steel pins under the barrel. Brass-tipped 7 1/8-inch ramrod with threaded brass opposite end.
    Condition: Good to very good. Steel with scattered fine pitting appears to have been cleaned. Action functions. Brass showing light scratches and dents commensurate with age and showing signs of cleaning and polishing. Wood very good with scattered fine dents. Possibly lightly sanded. Modest repair observed at butt. Short hairline crack between tip of lower tang and butt. Ramrod showing old repair.
