Description

    Circa 1770 British Flintlock Holster Pistol. 13 1/2" overall with 8" iron barrel bearing "London" on the top flat near the breech and two proof marks on the side. .62 caliber, the brass mounts include open side plate, butt, trigger guard, unengraved wrist escutcheon and ramrod pipes. Lock with rounded convex face marked "Griffin". Brass tipped wooden ramrod, the stock with raised carved panel around the tang with clamshell design. The wood also exhibits a raised single letter mark in a cartouche behind the side plate (appears to be H). Gun overall shows moderate wear with a crack with no loss through the wrist. The lower section of trigger guard tang has been repaired along with the lower portion of the escutcheon. Lacking a 3/4" sliver at the right front of the forestock. Barrel generally smooth and gray with some scattered cleaned areas of salt and peppering. British holster pistol from the period of the American Revolution deserving of full and competent restoration.
