Cased Pair of Percussion Pistols by Egg of London Converted by Manton & Son.
    Comprising: 1) Approximately .50 caliber, 10 1/2-inch damascus, octagonal barrel with top flat marked: D. EGG,LONDON. Brass blade front sight. Extremely fine engraved serpentine hammer. Floral-engraved breech and lock which is marked: MANTON & SON/PATENT. Sliding safety. Fine checkered English walnut stock with steel furniture including engraved finger rest triggerguard with fine London finial. Unique set trigger. Exotic fore-end cap with horn-tipped rod and brass thimble. Chased and engraved buttstock pommel cap. Contained in London-style, felt-lined pistol case with brass hardware, one covered compartment and flush-mounted semi-circular handle. Inside of lid with maker's paper label with lovely period imagery of crown, lion, unicorn, crossed pistols and stacked guns bearing the legend: EGG/GUN MAKER/TO THEIR ROYAL HIGHNESSES THE/PRINCE OF WALES/DUKE OF YORK ETC./CORNER OF COVENTRY STREET/HAYMARKET. Sold together with set of accessories including London cap tins, bullet mold and tool. Cap tin labels read in part: WARRANTED NEITHER TO MISS/FIRE NOR FLY TO PIECES.

    Condition: Fine. Retaining approximately 80-90% original finish, thinning slightly and with light highpoint edge wear. Stock is Very good to fine. Small crack below wedge on right side. 1-inch crack near pommel on left side. Period pin repair. Scattered scuffs and dents to stock. 2) Same as # 1 but without cracks. Case Fine. Scratches and dents to exterior. Felt good with age discoloration and scattered small tears.
