DescriptionC. 1770 Brass Mounted British Flintlock Holster Pistol. 13 1/2" overall, 7 3/4" round, brass, .60 caliber smoothbore barrel. Finely crafted walnut stock with beautifully executed shell carving behind barrel tang. Brass mask butt cap, open brass side plate, fancy unengraved brass wrist escutcheon. What appears to be the original ramrod with bone or ivory tip. Rounded iron lock marked "W. Staples". Gun overall very nice, wood excellent with crisp carving. Hammer screw appears to be replaced and there are a few hairline cracks, with no loss, in the tail of the trigger guard, minor. Metal excellent with just some light pitting on the barrel tang. Fine example of the type of pistol that accompanied many British officers during the American Revolution.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
