18th Century Spanish Miquelet Pistol Marked Cams.
Approximately .65 caliber, 9 3/4-inch part round part octagonal barrel marked CAMS along with proofmarks. Top of barrel with silver inlays [might of filled in other proofs at some point]. Molded bands and light engraving at midpoint and muzzle. Walnut stock with intricate and decorative engraved brass furniture throughout including a large figure head to pommel cap. Nice decorative brass thumb shield present with what appears to be a crown on the top. Lockplate unmarked but with heavy chiseled work including the front part of the frizzen marked RIPOLL. Note: Cams is listed as being a gunmaker in Ripoll, Spain C. 1735. See pages 94 and 98 in Spanish Guns and Pistols by W. Keith Neal for an almost identical marking. An attractive 18th Century pistol with great features from a known Spanish gunmaker that with a few repairs could be Museum Quality.

Condition: Very good to fine for its age. Age wear present. Metal, appears to have been cleaned at some point with an overall light grey patina and spots of pitting concentrating near muzzle. Wood with age wear and a few repairs near front of lock and wrist. A few small cracks on wood. Side-plate missing one screw that appears to have been possibly for a belt hook based on the cut to brass plate. Action functions but needs adjusting due to side plate screw missing which meets thru the stock to the lockplate. Brass has a bright patina, possibly cleaned. Bore with some pitting, but clear.
