    1765 Dated Italian Snaphaunce Marked "In Brento."
    Approximately .48 caliber, 4-inch part round segmented barrel with wedding band transitions. Snaphaunce lock with spring loaded sliding pan cover. Deep relief engraving to all other metal surfaces. Hammer and lock with busts and human figurals among floral decorations. Tail of lock with full relief bust of gentleman facing forward. Interior of lock is marked: IN BRENTO and dated: 1765. Silver back lock of pierced floral and human figural design. Carved hardwood stock with silver furniture including crest plate at top of grips which is pierced with crown above bust of helmeted warrior and flanked by bare breasted mermaid figurals. Trigger guard with pierced acanthus finial and bust of helmeted warrior on the bow. Bust of a woman on the butt cap set within a pair of panoply of arms with feathered finials that extend into the grip of the stock.

    Condition: Good. The barrel with a deep brown age patina with scattered patches of fine to heavy pitting. Chip to top of frizzen. All silver surfaces with moderate wear and showing a recent cleaning. Back lock screws functional. Stock good with some minor losses near muzzle and pipe. Crack to forend under thimble. Minor losses around the lock. Old repair of sliver chip at back of grip with small losses. Action functions. Ram rod absent.
