    Inscribed Colt Model 1851 Navy Single Action Revolver to Captain George Burchell.

    Serial no. 136098 [barrel, frame, triggerguard, cylinder and butt], .36 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight. Blued and case-hardened finish. Backstrap engraved: GEORGE W. BURCHELL 24TH MICH. Brass triggerguard. Smooth walnut one-piece grip. Manufactured in 1863. Sold along with his personal mess kit.

    Condition: Very good. Finish a smooth grey patina with scattered signs of handling wear, age and fine patches of pitting. Scuffs and dings present to wood. Two notches carved to left side of grip. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
