Great Pair of Colt .41 Caliber Single Actions, Consecutively Numbered, Attributed to Texas Rangers Captain Roy Alderich. Serial numbers 158425 and 158426. Both guns are of pleasing appearance. Patina generally gray with bits of minor brown discoloration. One retains most of the original nickel finish on barrel and ejector rod housing. Actions on both crisp and tight. Original Colt hard rubber grips, one showing more wear than the other on grips as well as the patina (clearly this was the gun worn on the side where it could be drawn by his favored hand).

Roy Alderich was an important figure in Ranger's history. A former Oklahoma lawman, he joined the Rangers as a private in 1915. By 1917 he had risen to the rank of sergeant and was made a captain just six months later. With one two year interruption, he served as a Ranger until 1947- the longest tenure of any Rangers - and eventually became the Ranger quartermaster. The wood case appears to be original, and is also accompanied by an authentic and correct Texas Rangers badge of the proper period, but which is not inscribed.
