    Fine and Exceptional U.S. Martially Marked Colt Model 1851 Navy Revolver, the First Model Attachable Shoulder Stock, with Canteen Insert
    Serial no. 56806 on both revolver and on plain brass shoulder stock yoke mounting. Serial no. 1 on top of heel of plain brass buttplate. Top of barrel with marking:
    - Address Saml. Colt Hartford CT -
    7 ½-inch barrel blued and color case-hardened finish, with oil-finished walnut stocks. Left side of frame stamped "Colts/Patent." Brass mountings to shoulder stock, of the early pattern.
    Note markings on each side of grips of original collection number, 2013. The revolver is pictured and listed in the catalogue of the A.E. Brooks Collection, page 24, item 137. Further, no. 56806 also appears in two editions of the U.S. Cartridge Co. Collection early in the 20th century, one of 104 pages, while the other is of 140 pages. From the latter, no. 56806 is item 671 (illus. page 134) and from the former, item 562 (illus., page 84).
    The First Model attachable shoulder stock is the most rare of the variations. Only a few examples are known, and none in the condition of no. 56806.

    Condition Report*: Excellent to mint. Cylinder scene and all markings excellent. 90-95% blue, with minor patina, patches turned brown or gray. 95-98% case hardening. Grips excellent. Minor storage marks. Appears to be unfired. Stock wood and stock mounts excellent to mint.
