    Description

    C.S. Pettengill Army Model Double Action Revolver.
    Serial no. 2561 [very faint], .44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front sight and frame notch rear sight. Blued finish. Top of frame marked: PETTENGILL'S / PATENT 1856 and RAYMOND & ROBITAILLE / PATENTED 1858. Smooth walnut grip panels.
    Provenance: National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Sold to benefit the Museum's collections and acquisitions.

    Condition: Good. Finish primarily a mottled grey patina, with noticeable handling wear, age and surface rust. Scuffs and dings present to wood. Action good. Moderately pitted bore.
