    Description

    Colt Model 1878 Frontier Double Action Revolver.
    Serial no. 11816, .44 caliber, 7 1/2-inch round barrel with fixed front blade sight and frame notch rear sight. Nickel-plated finish with jigged bone grips. Top of barrel marked COLTS PT. F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD CT. USA. Left side of framed etched COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER. Lanyard ring. Manufactured in 1883. This gun is pictured in Texas Iron, Guns of the Texas Rangers by Moser, page 86.

    Condition: Good to very good as partially refinished and cleaned. Scattered pitting present throughout. Barrel has been stripped of all original finish. Traces of nickel-plating appear on frame, cylinder and loading gate. Grips appear to be replacement. Action good. Bore ok.
