Serial no. 775 [barrel and frame under grips], .22 rimfire caliber, 3 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with fixed front blade sight and rear buckhorn sight. Blued finish. Scroll engraved nickel-plated brass frame. Barrel marked: T.J. STAFFORD NEW HAVEN, CT. Spur trigger. Smooth rosewood grip panels. Square butt marked: PATENTED / MARCH 19, 1860. Estimated total of 2,100 manufactured. Flayderman 8A-171.
Condition: Very good. Barrel finish primarily a smooth grey patina with scattered wear and patches of pitting. Retaining approximately 70-80% of a thinning silver-plate, brass showing and fine patches of pitting. Dings and scuffs to grips. Action crisp. Moderately pitted bore.
