Description
Colt Single Action Army Revolver Engraved by D.W. Harris.Serial no. 275421, .44-40 caliber, 4 3/4-inch barrel with 2-line Hartford address. Left side of barrel roll-stamped: COLT FRONTIER SIX SHOOTER. Profusely scroll-engraved with fine stipple dot background. Sunburst motifs to top of frame, breech, loading gate and below hammer. Nickel-plated finish. "Tear-drop" mother-of-pearl grips. Butt is signed: DW HARRIS. Manufactured 1906. Sold together with a signed, undated letter on "Master Engraver David Wade Harris" letterhead stating that serial no. 275421 was hand engraved and nickel-plated by David Wade Harris.
Provenance: Roger and Linda Carpenter Collection.
Condition: Excellent as custom engraved and refinished by David Wade Harris. Retaining approximately 97-99% custom nickel-plating at the time of engraving. Some very light wear at front of cylinder. Grips are excellent. Each grip panel numbered to the gun in modern ink. Plastic shim present to keep grip panels tight. Good bore with fine to moderate pitting. Action crisp.
