    From the Fitterer Family Collection

Colt Single Action Army, Delivered to Hibbard, Spencer, Bartlett and Co. of Chicago in 1883, Belonging to T. W. Searle. The name T. W. Searle is scratched onto the brass nameplate on the handle of the knife. A 1908 Iowa atlas shows someone of that name residing in Spring Creek Farm near Sioux City, so this very nice rig and knife may well have been his.

The unmarked leather elements are in good but well-used condition. The Bowie-style knife also shows long years of use and hand-sharpening. Overall length 13.5", with the Wilkinson blade measuring 9.5" (rounded at the tip).

The Colt, accompanied by a factory letter, has matching serial numbers 83776. Very good condition, with even dark gray patina and interesting, worn notched grips. Action tight. For accuracy we note a very minor touch of light pitting on the cylinder. 7.5" barrel. All in all, a very appealing ensemble with great display appeal.
