    Providence Police.

    Cased Allen & Wheelock Model Center Hammer Percussion Revolver.
    Serial no. 68 [inside grip on wood and metal] , .36 caliber, rare 2 1/2-inch octagonal barrel with brass fixed front sight. Blued finish. Case-hardened hammer. Spur trigger. Smooth walnut grip panels. This Allen & Wheelock is also called the Providence Police. Contained wood display case with blue felt lining. Sold along with flask, bullet mold, tin of Walker's caps and rare plunger. Flayderman states that about 700 of these were made between the late 1850's and early 1860's. He also mentions, ".......Although these arms are all unmarked, they are decidedly the product of Allen & Wheelock and are so considered." See 5A-062

    Condition: Very good, retaining 5-10% bluing with moderate case-hardening to hammer. Showing a few areas of a dark finish and flaking, the balance a smooth light grey patina with scattered wear and pitting. Scuffs and dings present to grips. Action needs adjustment. Bore is excellent. Flask in excellent condition with just the slightest wear and handling. One small faint dent present. Case showing normal age and storage wear, but in very good to fine condition on the outside. Inside, some loose partitions and scuffs and wear. Light oxidation to brass fitting to case.
