    Description

World's Columbian Exposition: The Vertical Transit Company Elevator Ride Ticket. Brand new at the exposition were elevators, still a novelty at that time. They were installed in small numbers to take visitors to building rooftops, generally for a fee. The Vertical Transit Company took visitors to the top of the Transportation Building. Concession 5, this company issued small red and white tickets which are highly sought-after. Many years ago it was unknown if any existed; then, a collector found seven tucked away in a stamp album. The consignor of this ticket acquired six of those and sold them in 2004 and 2005 for $795 each, keeping one which is offered here. Since then we have seen one other offered on eBay and the general consensus is that perhaps 10 are known to exist. Roller or roulette cancelled. Doolin calls Vertical Transit No. 32, with no known examples. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
