World's Columbian Exposition: Strip of Three Tickets & Brochures for Electric Boats. Ephemera relating to the launches of the Electric Launch and Navigation Company. These small electric passenger boats plied the waters of the lagoons on the grounds along with the gondolas, taking passengers on tours or just to ferry them from one building to another. This great little lot includes a mint strip of three horizontal blue EL&N Co mint tickets, D series, numbers 420028, rarely seen as a strip. Reinforced at the perforations with old tape but the perforations are solid Doolin number 25. Also included is an even more-rare brochure for the electric launches from the builders of the launches, the Detroit Boat Works. Pictures of the various boats for the company used at the fair. The only such piece we have seen. Four pages. Measures 7.75" x 5", creased but displayable and very rare. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
