World's Columbian Exposition: Lot of Sixteen Different Denomination Tickets from the Java Village. The Javanese people were one of the largest contingents on The Midway and quite popular showing off both the South Sea Culture and their artistic and other skills.

This lot is comprised of the well-known two-part tickets, each with a hole at the right side, presumably for stringing to an item for sale. While these tickets are well-known, the smallest and largest denominations are very difficult to come by. Many collectors are unaware of the complete run of prices simply because some are virtually never seen. The lowest amounts, especially ten cents, were used, separated and destroyed most often because of the low price; the highest denominations simply were printed in very small quantities. The tickets and denominations offered here are as follows:

    Red: 10 cents (Doolin #67A), 50 cents (#67C), 75 cents (#67D) and 1 dollar (#67E).
    Blue: $1.25 (#67F), $1.50 (#67G), $2.00 (#67H), $2.25 (#67J), $2.50 (#67K)
    Green: $3.00 (#67L), $4.00 (#67M), $5.00 (#67N), $6.00 (#67P), $7.00 (unlisted by Doolin)
    Yellow: $9.00 (#67R) and $10.00 (#67S)
From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
