World's Columbian Exposition: Four Items from the Libbey Glass Company. The number of Libbey souvenirs is vast, from blown glass art pieces, to drinking glasses, to paperweights and much more. The company operated a complete glass factory onsite on the midway and was one of the most successful concession at the fair. This lot includes: one red ticket, 1" x 2", which reads "This ticket Applies upon the purchase of any one article. Good for 10 cents this day only. Two or more tickets cannot apply on the same article. Libbey Glass Co." This ticket is also known in green. Doolin 70-72 are all different colors than this unlisted variety; a similar ticket, 15 cents, 3" x 1.5", same as above. Unlisted in Doolin.; salesman's ticket, 3" x 2", vertical heavy stock, off-white with No. 7243 in blue ink at the top, Libbey Glass Co. and a large "E" and place for a salesman's name. This has been seen in other letters, although it is very rare. We assume this was tied to a purchase or delivery of items from the factory. Unlisted in Doolin; a 4-page brochure including an outstanding cover photo of the Libbey factory on The Midway. It is titled "Libbey Glass Company's Factory/In full operation at the World's Fair/Located on the Midway Plaisance, adjoining the Illinois Central R.R.," which was near the east end of The Midway on the north side. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
