World's Fair of 1939: Gold Foil Chocolate Coins. Five 3.25" gold foil chocolate coins issued as souvenirs at the New York World's Fair of 1939. They were manufactured by Nestlé's. The obverse shows the Theme Building with trylon and perisphere. The reverse shows the Federal Building. One example comes in the original box of issue (tape with wear to box). Four of the coins are in very good condition while another is flattened, indicating loss of the contents. The original owner kept them refrigerated for many years which accounts for their current good condition, although we suspect their "shelf life" expired some time ago.Auction Info
