World's Columbian Exposition: Unique Group of Travel and Railroad Tickets for Passage to the Fair. Also includes tickets for lodging and amusements while there. Includes: an 1893 Rail pass reading "Any Railroad Will Pass_____Including admission to the World's Fair." With an advertisement for a restaurant and signed by "The Hamburger Company." Quite possibly a real pass issued by the local restaurant; 1893 annual pass for the Chicago, Rock Island and Pacific Railway but NOT good for any special trains running to the fair grounds; an 1893 pass on the Cleveland, Cincinnati, Chicago & St. Louis Railway. Signed in ink by "Simmons" Superintendent; an American Ticket Brokers pocket printed directory of all members of the American Ticket Brokers Association as formed in 1879 and this dated August 1893. An amazing little resource in that it points to all ticket agents/brokers throughout the United States who likely sold tickets, travel packages, etc. to the WCE. An unparalleled source of information in a little directory; Insurance flyer from the World's Fair Travelers: You need Accident Insurance when traveling to the WCE. Rates, etc. for various travelers, including $15 per week disability if injured while visiting the WCE. Interestingly, they were after folks before they left on their trip to the WCE in hopes of setting them up with key insurance for the trip-at $4.50 per month for the premium, purchasable at 25 cents per day. Great flyer that goes with other travel packages; Erie Lines fold out map and brochure regarding trains between New York and Chicago for the Columbian Exposition. Nice three-color maps and literature with connecting ships on the eastern seaboard, menus, and more; Timetable for Routes and Rates World's Columbian Exposition, via Poughkeepsie Bridge Route and Royal Blue Line, with connections through/to Central RR of New Jersey, Reading Railroad System, Baltimore and Ohio RR, 211 Washington Street, Boston, Mass. 8.5" x 11" with comprehensive schedules and rates, plus literature on the trip and the fair; a French Bakery map and coupon for a free ride on the Intramural Railway of the WCE, reading "No ticket without this map....Free Ride of seven miles on this railway by presenting this map at cashier's desk...." highlighting different concessions and features on the grounds. Red and black ink and folded to approximately 3.5" x 7". Included here also is either an early or test version, not folded, but 11" x 5" black on newsprint type stock (thin and fragile), also offering FREE TICKET on the Intramural Rwy; Florida On Wheels "A Florida State Fair, A rolling palace...en route from the World's Fair at Chicago, 1893." An entire exhibit from Florida was taken via rail to the fair and then shown en route back from Chicago. "A Conservatory on Wheels", an exceptional and rare piece; we had never heard of this Florida show until now. 10 Cents, 5 Cents for Children; Wabash RR complete Columbian promotional booklet, as well, making this a total of 11 different World's Columbian Railroad related tickets, passes and literature. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
