World's Columbian Exposition: Rodney Dexter's Daily Diary, Photograph, Railway Sheet with Map, and a Ticket. The diary is a 365-day 'day timer' with photos, facts, maps of WCE; called the Columbian Daily Record; pocket size, and property of "R Dexter" of Englewood, Illinois, an employee of the railroad. After working at the World's Columbian Exposition, Dexter left for Omaha "to work for the Trans Mississippi Fair 1/94." Besides Dexter's daily notes about work and personal items, the printed diary is full of outstanding color maps and information on the fair. Diary has no major text, just notes on contacts, hours worked, tasks. Unique. Also included is an original 1892 blue tone photo showing heavy trees, watch tower, rail tracks and crossing gates and small kiosk noting "Illinois Central" and main fair buildings under construction. Taken from the edge of the fairgrounds, looking east toward Lake Michigan and noting "57th St, Looking east, 7/11/92," and the grounds hardly yet taking shape along 57th with the fair just 10 months away. Third item is a railway sheet on "The Intramural Railway at the World's Fair, Fare, 10 cents" and map of the grounds including gates and site high points and the "World's Fair Steam Launch Lake and Lagoon Route." This is a very rare map in the style of the Intramural Railway maps from the Bakery but different than ever seen before. Lastly is a very rare ticket for the Columbian Intramural Railway, printed ticket number 118 (as for employee 118) plus Day 74 of the fair from a ticketbook used by Dexter or employees of the fair railroad. (Likely from the pass book listed by Doolin as No. 22). From the collection of Norm Bolotin.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
