DescriptionWorld's Columbian Exposition: Lot of Fourteen Tickets, Passes, and Invitations. Group of advertising, drawing and related ticket, passes, and cards. A large and inexpensive lot of generally rare, some possibly unique items, including:
-Japanese Tea House Price for Admission and team, "The coolest and nicest spot in the World's Fair Grounds", 3" x 5", black and red on white with photo and recipe for special tea on the back.
-Old Times Distillery Drawing ticket, die cut in shape of the distillers' building. Guess the number admissions sold to the fair between May 1st and October 30th and the winner will receive 15 barrels of whiskey!
-Advertisement for drawing at the fair. "We Give Away a New Home Sewing Machine Every few days."
-Ticket No. 46589 to win four pairs of pants and "elegant shoes" being exhibited in the Shoe and Leather Building. Drawing November 15, 1893 after the close of the fair.
-Complete map and directions/information for exhibits at the fair and with large ads on the foldout for, among others, Hagenbeck's Zoological Arena on the Midway, three shows daily, admission 50 cents, 75 cents and $1.00 according to location of seats. Large ad for the Old Times Distillery contest for the drawing to guess admissions. Outstanding brochure unlike most with Midway and "Jackson Park Specialties" and the restaurants, exhibits, special events, and more. Previously folded into six panels, so creased and some splits, but a very unusual item. Very displayable once you decide which side to display!
-Chicago Opera House program with dozens of ads including railroads, ticket brokers, events and their prices, and much more. An understated 24-page document that is a gold mine for ticket collectors and researchers.
-Special ticket worth ten cents to apply to admission for the Chicago Fire Panorama.
-Grand Opening of Georg Mahler's new saloon on Clark Street, an invitation to a an open house and free lunch.
-Rochester Lamp Company ticket No. 767835 for a drawing for a free parlor lamp exhibited at the fair.
-One dollar off a hat at the N.B. Haynes Co, WCE, a souvenir coupon for world's fair visitors; May 1, 1893. Good on any hat purchase priced over $10.
-Boston Rubber Shoe Co., a handout with color artwork of young woman in boots.
-Standard Oil Company card inviting fairgoers/guests to attend one of four presentations daily. Glue residue on reverse.
-Day of Sale ticket and an unperforated Return pass.
