    Description

World's Columbian Exposition: Group of Very Interesting Invitations, Tickets, Photos, Guides and Related Items, including: one 9.5" x 13" large Chicago Day certificate of visitation for the biggest day in the history of the fair. Remarkably scarce considering more than 700,000 people attended this day. Included is an original printed photo of the mass of humanity that day. Excellent photo for framing with the certificate. Small cut on the border. This image (10.5" x 13") is from a vintage folio with an image on the reverse as well; also, two Children's Special Tickets to the fair, standard half price, measuring 1.75" x 3", numbers V495882 and V495883, consecutively numbered. Interesting to wonder who this young pair of siblings were at the fair and how they might have told tales to their grandkids in the middle of the twentieth century; another certificate of visitation, October 5 rather than Chicago Day. Also excellent with foxing at the ends, but would display perfectly; another large invitation to attend the Dedication in 1892, this one not having been hand-addressed to anyone. Front and inside separated by age, but both invitation and details on second sheet are in excellent condition; a second pass as listed earlier, this one with the blue Administration Building in the background and passing the bearer, Mrs. G. C. Waddell of Arizona to the grounds at any time she wished to visit. Beautiful pass on heavy stock in near mint condition with light discoloration in the upper left corner only. Also two pocket-sized guides, both among the less frequently seen today, one a directory style guide to the city and the fair and the other "The best things to see and how to find them!". A great assortment of Chicago World's Fair ephemera. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
