World's Columbian Exposition: Four Tickets for Hagenbeck's Arena. At the WCE, Hagenbeck's Arena was THE amusement entertainment most visitors planned to see at the world's fair. It was, effectively, a circus in its own pavilion on The Midway. It was advertised as ethnological exhibits and included trained animals of many types and was presented much like a circus. Included here are four separate tickets: the best-known of the group is a deep blue 2.25" x 1.5" ticket with a very fancy background reading "Hagenbeck's Arena/Admission to Menagerie and World's Ethnological Museum" in white reversed out of the India Ink blue of the entire face of the ticket. Number 305129 Doolin #57; Second ticket is for Hagenbeck's Arena, Reserved Seat, Arena Circle with an illustration of a lion in the center. This is a very rare ticket and has a piece out of the upper right affecting the top of the word "arena" and the last two digits of the ticket number, 9208xx. Doolin #60; also, here we have a blue gallery ticket, measuring 3" x 1.5", no stub, reads "Hagenbeck's Arena/First Gallery/Admit One/Good for this day only." We have seen this in beige, also. Doolin #58; Lastly, a return check, reading "Good for this day only, Hagenbeck's Arena", measuring 3" x 1.5", brown paper, with chipping at both left and right ends. It is stamped in purple "Good Only Oct 9, Hagenbeck's Arena." Quite rare. Unlisted in Doolin. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
