World's Columbian Exposition: Columbian Society Ticket Book and Seven Tickets. The ticket book is one of an estimated 3-5 known, while individual tickets from books show up from time to time. This is a near mint book with no name on the cover and stamped Book No. 240. The Columbian Society was based in New York, hence the ticket book including all travel to the fair plus lodging and all lodging at the Society's own facilities in Chicago, indicating it was quite solvent and fairly large. This ticket book includes numerous actual tickets that have never been seen at public auction or for sale before. All in the book and in mint condition, including: a full ticket for disability insurance from Lloyd's of London should any traveler become injured on the trip to the world's fair; a transfer coupon for moving one's baggage from the train to "the hotel or cottages" in Chicago; a mint full coupon for a week's lodging to be exchanged for hotel/cottages at the offices of the Society which were located at 7036 Cottage Grove Avenue....and address easily identified near the then fairgrounds; a total of four meal tickets which could be presented at the designated locations on the fairgrounds or at the Society's facilities; a coupon was included for the traveler for three meals per day on his or her stay. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
