Description

World's Columbian Exposition: Canvas Ticket Holder, Dedication Ceremony Ticket, and Berth Ticket. Ticket folder with canvas cover, 4.5" x 2", typed in purple "Colonel J. Yale Fairman" on the cover. Included on the inside of the cover is a ticket for the World's Columbian Exposition Dedicatory Ceremonies. A rare and possibly unique ticket to the event. Includes all details on the Hartford to Chicago trip. Includes another ticket that appears to have come included in the perforated book reading Boston & Albany Railroad, assigning, written in with ink on the dark and light blue ticket, "Lower.....Berth No. 6/in car No. 1....Hartford to Chicago and Return.... Oct. 18, 1892/East Oct. 22, 1892." Part of a group of citizens/officials from Hartford visiting the fair for the official dedication in October, six months prior to its actual opening. Included are the dedicatory ceremony ticket, as described, and the berth ticket. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
