    Description

World's Columbian Exposition: Arctic Whaling Ship Ticket. Admits the bearer to the Whaling Bark Progress and the museum. Red, heavy paper (where rubs exist at the corners it is obviously a duplex paper with white underneath). The only example we have seen although we understand there was one at auction approximately 15 years earlier. It could be the same ticket. Exceptionally rare. Measures 4.5" x 2.5", a large example whereas most similar attractions used small "stand"-type tickets. No. 472, a very low number from perhaps the first day of the fair. Dime-size spot of glue residue in one corner. The consignor purchased this ticket from a de-accessioned group that was in a small museum for 80 some years. Doolin lists a different ticket for the Progress as his number 100. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
