    Description

Grand Central Fair: Sanitary Fair Season Pass and Souvenir Brick. A specimen pass to the Grand Central Fair, with a hole for the attendee to wear on a string. Also in this lot is an exceptionally rare souvenir from the same Philadelphia fair, a mini-brick. Made by the Chambers, Brothers and Company's Model Brick Machine at the fair, this sample of actual materials was made onsite at the fair itself. The actual mini-brick is 3" x .75" x .75" and is the only one we have ever seen from the Great Central, or any other-fair. These sanitary fairs were held all across the North during the war, and were intended to raise money for bandages, medical supplies, and other urgently needed items for the troops in the field. It is in virtually mint condition and stamped with the fair and firm name slightly off-center to the right on the top of the brick which is a light chocolate brown color. From the collection of Norm Bolotin.
