[Marquis de Lafayette] Letter Detailing the Route of Lafayette during the 1824 Visit to Philadelphia. One and one-half pages, 8" x 10", Philadelphia, September 10, 1824, to Richard Renshaw from the Committee of Arrangement, the letter gives the detailed route Lafayette will take through the city. Lafayette was the last surviving French general of the Revolutionary War. He had been invited by then President and Founding Father James Monroe to visit America in celebration of her upcoming fiftieth anniversary. Evenly toned, the text remains bold and bright. Some soiling on the recto. Remnants of red wax seal on verso. Fine.
